Hugs for Mila’s Miracle - A Hugging Spree to Halloween

This October, we're challenging you to a hugging spree to raise awareness for Batten Disease!

As many of you know, our sweet little Mila bug is fighting more than just ghosts and goblins this Halloween - she's fighting Batten Disease, an extremely rare and fatal neurodegenerative disorder that is robbing her of life. Although there is no cure for Mila's variant of Batten Disease, we haven't given up hope yet. In fact, we're well on our way to funding a new gene therapy trial that could give Mila and children like her a second chance at life as well as and advance science for countless of other diseases. But now, more than ever, we need your support to make this dream a reality.

Join us in a Hugging Spree to Halloween and you can be a superhero to Mila and children like her who are battling for their lives.

Here's how it works:

In order to even have a chance at survival, we need a clinical trial for my cousin Mila, and the children like her who are afflicted, and we need $1 million more to make it possible.

Family and friends and donors have raised $3 million in just 6 months and now we need you to help us close the gap on the last $1 million need by Oct 31.

We can make enough hugs happen this month and raise a million right? With all the hurt and suffering going on right now, hugs couldn’t hurt.

Here's how Hugs for Mila's Miracle works:

1. Go to www.stopbatten.org and donate whatever you can.

2. Stop a stranger on the sidewalk, your colleague in your cube, your best friend, the person at the picnic table next to you on your lunch break, or standing on line at your coffee shop of choice, your neighbor, your parent, ANYONE.

3. Prop up your phone and flip to “selfie mode” OR ask a standbyer to film for you OR hold your selfie stick to capture a video or a photo of the following:

4. I’m (your name) and I’m here with (name of who you are hugging) and we believe in a miracle for Mila. We are donating our hug and $50 each (or whatever you can donate) at www.stopbatten.org and nominate (pick two people each or more) to donate whatever they can and their hug.

5. Copy and paste these instructions & notes share your video or photo on social media, tagging the person you hug and the people you nominate, using these hasghtags (and any other you’d like): #ibelieve#stopbatten #milasmiracle #ahugadaykeepsthedoctoraway #HugItOn#HuggingSpreetoHalloween

Important Notes

- If you are hugged by a Mila’a Miracle believer or you are nominated by a Mila’s Miracle believer, we hope you catch the spirit of the "Hugging Spree to Halloween" believe, donate whatever funds you can and pass it on to others.

- If you can't donate, please do not underestimate the power of your belief in a miracle and the healing capacity of a hug. Now more than ever, between war, natural disasters, domestic terrorism and personal suffering, and keeping steadfast in faith for Mila and children like her, a hug is what we need.

- If you're able to donate, we understand there is a limit to your funds, but your faith in the fight and capacity to give hugs is limitless! Please consider to KEEP HUGGING and sharing your videos and photos of MORE than one hug once you donate. Please keep up the hugs until we break a million.

*A sincere thanks the ALS Foundation for its dedication to fighting ALS and the inspiration to create this challenge from the Ice Bucket Challenge.*
